Although born in Panama into a military family, Donnetta Lavinia Grays is a true Southern girl at heart as her family has called Columbia, South Carolina their home for more than twenty years. Currently residing in New York, Donnetta has made her mark on the city's most beloved television franchise, garnering a recurring role as "Officer Ramirez" on NBC's Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Her other television credits include work on Law and Order: Criminal Intent, The Sopranos, The Variety Clubs Show of Hearts (Vancouver, BC) and the Emmy Award© winning documentary Where Do We Go From Here? Her film credits include playing the lead in Conversations With Id (written and directed by Angela Tucker). She was also thrilled to play the role of "Claire" in the award-winning short film Shook (written and directed by Melanie Williams-Oram) which was featured on Showtime in their Black Filmmakers Showcase in February of 2005.Donnetta's work extends to the stage as well, most recently appearing in Lisa Kron's WELL at the Huntington Theatre in Boston. She made her Broadway Debut with the show as an understudy in 2006. Other Theatre credits include The Royal Family and A Raisin in the Sun (Oregon Shakespeare Festival) Twelfth Night (Los Angeles Women's Shakespeare Company), Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing (Charleston Shakespeare Project). Donnetta is also the Managing Director and is a Founding Member of Coyote REP Theatre Co. and can be heard playing the role of Sanchez in Robert Emmet Lunney's Patriot Act as a part of the company's on-line Sound Play Series.Commercially, Donnetta can currently be seen in an ad for Am Ex and her distinctive voice has been heard nationwide on radio. Donnetta received her BA from the College of Charleston and her MFA in Acting from the University of California at Irvine.
